3D Design Type 4 Forged is a 2-piece forged wheel engineered for BMW heavy-duty SAV platforms, built to clear the JWL 815 kg test standard - the certification required for vehicles above standard passenger car weight ratings. The inner disc and outer rim are independently manufactured and joined with bolts around the barrel, allowing size combinations not possible with a monoblock. At 22 inches in widths from 10.0J to 11.5J, the Type 4 Forged was designed for the BMW F15 X5 and F16 X6 with front and rear staggered configurations in mind.

3D Design is a Japanese tuning company with decades of experience developing wheels and performance components exclusively for BMW. All Type 4 Forged units were manufactured in Japan to BMW fitment specifications, with JWL 815 kg certification confirming compliance with heavy SUV load requirements. The offset adapter system - a 5 mm adapter included with select configurations - allows additional fitment flexibility without compromising structural integrity.

3D Design Type 4 Forged Design and Engineering

The Type 4 Forged uses a 10-spoke disc face in Gunmetal finish joined to the outer rim via visible barrel bolts. The 2-piece construction provides both the structural integrity needed for JWL 815 kg certification and the visual depth characteristic of a step-lip 2-piece build. Two rim treatments were offered: Standard (polished outer rim) and Black Anodized (black anodized outer rim), both retaining the same Gunmetal inner disc and 10-spoke geometry.

The Type 4 Forged was offered in two finishes. Gunmetal x Standard Rim pairs a Gunmetal matte disc with a polished chrome-effect outer rim. Gunmetal x Black Anodized Rim uses the same Gunmetal disc with a black anodized outer rim for a darker, understated appearance. Both finishes carry JWL 815 kg certification and the same 10-spoke disc geometry.

The Type 4 Forged was designed for BMW heavy SAV platforms including the F15 X5, F16 X6, F86 X6M, and other high-GVW or 7-seat BMW models. Staggered front-rear configurations are supported: front 22x10.0J at +39, rear 22x11.5J at +27 (with 5 mm offset adapter where noted). The PCD 120mm 5-hole pattern covers all BMW X5 and X6 F-series variants. Hub rings are required for vehicles with 72.5mm center bore.
