Where Flow-Forming Meets Monoblock Construction

The RG-R sits within the BBS Performance Line - a platform the brand has been refining since it introduced flow-forming to the aftermarket in 1996. Each wheel begins as a low-pressure casting, and the rim area is then flow-formed under high pressure at elevated temperature. This process compacts the aluminium and changes its mechanical properties, increasing strength and stiffness while reducing weight. The result is a one-piece wheel that delivers a stiffness-to-weight ratio well beyond what a conventional casting can achieve. BBS develops this geometry in-house, and no replica producer has access to the tooling or the thermal treatment process.

The RG-R Design

The RG-R's defining feature is its multi-spoke face - a set of cross spokes that create a visually open pattern without sacrificing structural integrity. The spokes are arranged to allow airflow to the brake assembly, which is why the design has been popular on everything from Nissan Skyline GT-Rs to Porsche 911s. The face is machined with back-milled spokes, removing material from areas that do not contribute to stiffness. The result is a wheel that reads as purposeful from every angle, and correct from every distance. It is a monoblock, but it does not look like a generic one.
