Where Flow-Forming Meets Motorsport Engineering

The RX is produced using BBS's counter-pressure casting process, followed by flow-forming of the rim area. This is the same technology the brand introduced to the aftermarket in 1996 and has refined over decades of motorsport and OEM supply. During flow-forming, the cast blank is rotated under tremendous pressure at high temperature, and three hydraulic rollers form the inner rim area, compacting the material and aligning its grain structure. This process changes the mechanical properties of the cast rim, increasing strength and stiffness while reducing weight. The result is a wheel that delivers a stiffness-to-weight ratio that a conventional cast wheel cannot approach. BBS develops this geometry in-house, and no replica producer has access to the tooling.
