Like the other models in the 40th anniversary revival, the 540C draws on HRE's 1990s mesh heritage - reimagined with modern forging techniques, updated tolerances, and a fitment range that extends from dedicated sports car applications through to full-size performance SUVs. The three-piece format makes it the most configurable version of the 540C design available.

HRE 540C (3-Piece) Design and Engineering: Three-Component Modular Construction

The 540C (3-Piece) comprises three independently forged aluminum components - a center disc, an outer barrel, and an inner barrel - joined with threaded peripheral hardware. Separating the barrel from the center disc allows width and offset to be specified well beyond the range achievable with a fixed or semi-fixed assembly, making deep concave, step-lip, and wide-body configurations straightforward to achieve without custom tooling. The outer barrel is available in Rolled Lip or Flange Lip profile options, allowing the builder to adjust the visual character of the rim between a broad traditional highlight and a tighter motorsport edge. All components are CNC-machined from aerospace-grade 6061-T6 aluminum to the exact vehicle-specific dimensions. The complete wheel is SUV load-rated in 20- through 24-inch diameters, OE TPMS-compatible, and designed for compatibility with factory lug hardware specifications.
