Because the entire wheel is one piece of metal, the three failure modes common to multi-piece construction are eliminated by design: fatigue cracking at barrel-to-face junctions cannot develop where no junction exists, bolt backlash under cyclic loading is not possible when there are no bolts, and the periodic retorquing that multi-piece wheels technically require is simply not part of the ownership equation.
