BBS FI-R - The Flow-Formed Monoblock With Motorsport-Derived Split Spokes
The Wheel That Motorsport Built for the Road
Some wheels are designed for a single platform. The BBS FI-R was designed for a purpose - to bring motorsport-derived engineering to road-going performance cars. Its five split spokes are not a stylistic choice; they are a direct reference to the wheels BBS developed for racing, where reducing unsprung mass and maintaining brake cooling are the only metrics that matter. The FI-R is the road-going expression of that idea, and it has become a reference point for Porsche owners because of it.
Where Flow-Forming Meets Motorsport Heritage
The FI-R sits within the BBS Forged Line - the brand's flagship platform, produced at BBS Japan using a multi-stage flow-forming process. Each wheel begins as a billet of 6000-series aerospace-grade aluminium, which is heated and flow-formed under extreme pressure to create a dense, fine-grained metal structure. The FI-R is then back-milled to remove material from the spokes that is not required for strength, reducing weight without compromising structural integrity. The result is a one-piece wheel that weighs as little as 7.7 kg in its lightest configuration, yet delivers the stiffness-to-weight ratio that a performance car demands. BBS develops this geometry in-house, and no replica producer has access to the tooling or the thermal treatment process.
The FI-R Design
The FI-R's defining feature is its five split-spoke pattern - a design that has become instantly recognisable because it looks equally correct on a Porsche 911 GT3 and a BMW M4. Each spoke features a hole at its outer edge to reduce weight further, a detail that is visible on close inspection and that reflects the FI-R's motorsport origins. The design is deliberately aggressive without being overstated, and it reads as purposeful from every angle. It is a wheel that suits performance cars where the wheel is expected to make a statement - a Porsche 911, a BMW M4, or an Audi R8.
For Performance Cars That Demand Motorsport-Derived Engineering
The BBS FI-R suits owners of Porsche 911 (991/992), BMW M4 (F82/G82), and Audi R8 - cars where the wheel must perform under load and look correct at every viewing distance. Tell us which car you are building for, and we will confirm the FI-R specification before the order is signed off.

BBS is the original pioneer of the performance wheel — founded in 1970 in Schiltach, Germany, with BBS Japan established in 1983. The brand built its reputation on a single conviction: that motorsport engineering should reach the road, not remain locked in the paddock. That conviction is embodied most clearly in BBS Flow Forming technology — the process that defines the brand's Performance Line and brings racing-derived engineering to a broad range of luxury and performance vehicles.
Hodoor sources BBS wheels through trusted dealer channels and verifies the correct fitment, finish and delivery options before quoting.
