The Material That Changes the Equation
Most performance wheels are built from aluminium. The BBS FZ-MG is not. Its monoblock construction begins with magnesium - a material that delivers a strength-to-weight ratio well beyond what aluminium can achieve. The result is a wheel that weighs significantly less than its aluminium equivalent, yet carries the structural integrity that high-performance platforms demand. It is not simply light. It is engineered to be light without compromise.
Where Flow-Forming Meets Magnesium
The FZ-MG sits within the BBS Forged Line - the brand's flagship platform, produced at BBS Japan using a multi-stage flow-forming process. BBS was the first company in the world to develop a forged magnesium racing wheel for Formula 1, supplying Scuderia Ferrari from 1992. The FZ-MG is the road-going expression of that technology: a magnesium monoblock that applies the same metallurgical principles to a wheel built for road and track use. The wheel is available in Diamond Silver and Diamond Black finishes, with PCD options for BMW M4 and Lexus RC F. BBS develops this geometry in-house, and no replica producer has access to the tooling.
The FZ-MG Design
The FZ-MG's defining feature is its ten cross-spoke pattern - a design developed for excellent stress distribution across the wheel face. The spokes are arranged to create a sense of motion even when the wheel is stationary, and the face is visually balanced without being busy. It is a design that suits high-performance coupes where the wheel is expected to perform on track and look correct on the street - a BMW M4 (F82) or a Lexus RC F (USC10). The dedicated ornament detail adds a layer of visual intelligence that most aftermarket wheels lack.
