Introduced as part of the 40th anniversary 540 Series revival in 2018, the 540C maintains the same performance specifications and diameter range as its 540 sibling while delivering a visually differentiated take on the classic mesh heritage that the series represents. The two-piece FMR-X configuration combines a forged center casting with a one-piece continuously forged outer rim, producing a lighter and structurally more efficient assembly than a conventional three-piece modular build.

HRE 540C (2-Piece) Design and Engineering: FMR-X Single-Piece Barrel

The 540C (2-Piece) uses HRE's proprietary FMR-X barrel - a continuously forged outer rim that removes the need for a separate inner air-seal component and reduces the total part count relative to a three-piece assembly. The result is a cleaner structural section with fewer fastened joints, and a rim profile that benefits from the consistent grain structure of a continuously forged billet rather than a welded or bonded barrel. Two outer rim profile options are available at the time of order: Rolled Lip, which provides a broad, polished highlight consistent with classic modular wheel aesthetics, and Flange Lip, which produces a tighter, motorsport-influenced edge with a more restrained visual presence. The center disc is CNC-machined from aerospace-grade 6061-T6 aluminum to exact bolt circle, center bore, and offset for the specified vehicle. The assembly is SUV load-rated in 20- through 24-inch, Centerlock-capable, and OE TPMS-compatible.
